Hello everyone…after a long, long time in a galaxy far, far away…hehehe…I am back from the dead. As some of you know and others can imagine, I have been busy. Well…since my last letter, a lot of things have happened, starting by changes on my flat…we used to live in 6 people, but now we are living in 8…some flatmates have left (Marcus, Malik, Nicolas, Blandine, Lucas, Ruby and Emelie) and others have come (Greg, Leora, Julie, Tobias, Rafael, Petra). Continuing…I am going to tell everything that have happened to me here since September…but not at once.
“Liverpool Family”…from left to right: Samuel, Blandine, Ruby and Nicolas (ex-flatmates, but still part of the Liverpool family) and…me (showing my tongue), Greg and Leora (still flatmates). There are more people in the family, unfortunately I do not have a picture with everybody together.
Well, let’s start by October. This month is celebrated “the Labour Day”. Some friends (Marcus, Lucas, Alessandra and Juliana) and I rented a car and went to Central Coast, which is between Sydney and New Castle. Ah…a good tip before travelling during a holiday in Australia: “book a place to stay before going or you may sleep in the car”…because it almost happened to us…and be sure of having a navigator with you or you will be lost faster than you can imagine, as well.
Marcus, Juliana, Alessandra, Lucas, I and the car…a Toyota Corolla.
Well, we decided to go to Lake Macquarie, which has a beautiful view and from there we came back to Sydney following the coast. On Saturday our adventure really began…we visited the beaches of Central Coast such as Nine Miles Beach, Cave Beach, The Entrance and Shelley Beach. Ah, I almost forgot…on our way we found a Lighthouse, which is called Norah Head. It was one of the best moments of the trip, despite the rain, wind and cold.

Well, going ahead, in the afternoon we began our seek for a place to sleep…we drove around all the cities in Central Coast trying to find a place, in vain. Every place was already booked or there was no vacancy. We were in Copacabana Beach, almost hopeless when a angel called “Sue” appeared to help us. She heard us and offered her house. She lives with her husband, Phil and one of her sons, Sam. Her house is amazing. A huge back garden with a pool in the middle, many rooms downstairs, the lounge and kitchen upstairs and a spectacular view of Copacabana Beach. Next day, we visited all the beaches around Copacabana, including itself, like McMasters Beach, Avoca Beach, Pretty Beach. The weather didn’t help us so much, but at least it was not raining. On Monday we came back to Sydney’s routine. Well, that is it…our surprising holiday. Thanks for the hospitality Sue.

This month I finished my course after long six months. I found a job as well…I worked as a driver a couple of weeks. Well, driving in Sydney can be quiet difficulty to get used to, especially in the beginning, if you live in countries, which people drive on right side. Well, here is the opposite side and, also, the wheel is on the right side of the car. However, once you are used to drive here, it can be much easier than driving in Sao Paulo (my hometown). Despite Australians’ belief in what a traffic jam is, they really do not know what is to get stuck in 150~200 Km of congestion every day and it can be much worse if rains. In addition, here in Sydney, the rules and especially the pedestrians are respected. Well, I can say I have had a good experience in “driving on left side” and also have not been involved in any accident. Actually, there was an accident, but not a car accident, when I was delivering timber and it fell down from the top of the car that I used to drive. As a famous says say ”a picture worth more than a thousand words”.
Well, that is all so far. In the next letter, “November” and “December” .
I miss you all and see you.
Australian Casper.
